Guidelines Issued for Disney Parks Reopening

We have some good news about the look towards a great big beautiful tomorrow for Disney Park fans! Today the Orange County Economic Task Force shared specific guidelines for reopening Theme Parks in Central Florida. In a video posted today you can listen to the discussion about safety measures and precautions that will likely play a prominent role in the reopening of the Disney theme parks, resorts, and restaurants. According to this initial meeting the following guidelines and mandates were proposed for all local hotels, resorts, and theme parks:


Theme Parks

  • Guidelines:
    • Using tape to mark areas 6 feet apart in ride/attraction queues
    • Regular wipe down surfaces at random by park staff
    • During Phase 1 and 2 Employees (Cast Members) age 65+ will be encouraged to stay home
  • Mandates:
    • Facemasks for all Employees (Cast Members)
    • Automatic Dispensing (Touchless) hand sanitizer at turnstiles and entry points, and at the entry/exit to each attraction
    • Temperature checks for Employees prior to starting each shift (anyone with a recorded temperature above 100.4 must not enter premises)
    • Regular wipe-downs of all railings and hard surfaces
    • 50% capacity during Phase 1
    • 75% capacity during Phase 2

Hotels

  • Guidelines for Phase 1:

    • Limited Housekeeping services to  allow for minimal guest and employee exposure including on demand and on departure
    •  Mobile/online check-in for hotel reservations (via the MDE app for Disney guests)
    • Room Service delivery to stop outside guests’ doors
    • Promote social distancing for all guests and staff
    • Touchless sanitizer throughout the property
    • Additions and Increases to cleaning services
    • During Phase 1 and 2 Employees (Cast Members) age 65+ will be encouraged to stay home
  • Mandates:
    • Requirement for all employees (Cast Members) to wear facemasks
    • Hand sanitizer to be located upon entry in plain sight
    • Temperature checks for Employees prior to starting each shift (anyone with a recorded temperature above 100.4 must not enter premises)
    • Any employee with flu-like symptoms advised to stay home
    • Regular cleaning of all guest areas
    • Sneeze-guards for front desk employees
    • Removal of all multi-use service items in guest rooms (including coffee makers, glassware, coffee cups etc.)
    • No use/stocking of Mini Bars
    • No self food service options
    • Pool furniture spaced according to distancing guidelines with pool gates, chairs, and surfaces to be regularly sanitized
    • Regular sanitizing of door handles, elevator buttons, and railings
    • Single use in-room collateral materials only
    • Use touchless door entry where possible and sanitize guest keys before and after each use
    • Sanitize bell carts after each use
    • Phase 1 & 2No meetings/conferences

Restaurants

  • Guidelines:
    • Disposable menus (single-use)
    • Encourage takeout/online orders
    • Touchless sanitizer at entry points
    • During Phase 1 and 2 Employees (Cast Members) age 65+ will be encouraged to stay home
  • Mandates:
    • Hand sanitizer placed visibly at entry and every table
    • Requirement for all employees (Cast Members) to wear facemasks
    • Temperature checks for Employees prior to starting each shift (anyone with a recorded temperature above 100.4 must not enter premises)
    • Any employee with flu-like symptoms advised to stay home
    • Regular wipe down of all doors
    • All employees positioned behind counters must wear gloves (exception given to bartenders who must sanitize their hands after each order)
    • Tables to be placed six feet apart
    • 50% limit to restaurant and bar capacity during Phase 1
    • 75% limit to restaurant and bar capacity during Phase 2
